My D.C Memoir

dc

A couple of days ago the 8th grade took a trip to Washington D.C. I thought that it was fun. The bus ride there was kind of boring but the people on my bus took my camera case and started passing it around and wouldn’t give it to me. They finally gave it back to me though. When we got there we split up into groups. I was in Mrs. Cannons group and we saw some of the monuments. We saw the Lincoln memorial, the World War 2 memorial, the Washington momument, the White House, and I saw the Thomas Jefferson memorial from the bus. We went to the Smithsonian museum of Natural History and it was so cool. We saw the Hope diamond and fossils and a whole bunch of other stuff. There was also this one exhibit where there was this dome with butterflies flying around everywhere, it was cool. Then we went to Union Station for lunch. There was a whole bunch of shops and places. I got a D.C shirt. Then on the bus ride back I was laughing so hard because Jeff kept making these stupid noises and faces. So that was my trip and I had FUN!

My Proudest Moment

 sun

My proudest moment was when my cheerleading team got to go to Trenton, New Jersey for competition. I was so happy because I didn’t think we would make it.

We practiced so hard just to get to the Wicomico Civic Center, which was the first competition. The practices were so hectick. I was sick during competition and felt so bad because I messed up on one ofthe stunts. In the end we got third place and that was good enough to go to Trenton. Which was my first time ever.

I couldn’t wait to get to Trenton and the practices were going good. When we were at the hotel in New Jersey I got sick again. It was horrible. I still went on though and I think I did terrible. I was just happy that I got there because last year I didn’t go.

That was a great experience for me ( even though I was sick) because the feeling you get when you advance. It makes you feel like your good enough to advance or that you were one of the best. I had a pretty good year that year and that is something that I will always remember. So, that is why my trip to Trenton was my proudest moment.

Memories…

memories

This year was a great year. There were so many memories. Sence this is my last year in Middle School I will cherish those memories, forever.

One of the most memorable memory will be all of the great times with my friends. All of the laughs, the craziness, and just being there for each other. My friends and I have had alot of fun times. Like, when were at lunch we always crack jokes on each other.

Another memory this year was the Shorebirds game. That game was so much fun and so full of drama. Nobody was even watching the game. I hung out with all of my friends. I kept going from group to group talking with everybody. I also rode the merry-go-round( which was a joke). Shermon the mascot got a picture with me.

The next one was the semi- formal. The semi formal is the biggest dance of the year that almost everybody goes to. It was so much fun! The theme was stary night. My dress was zebra and I wore black heels and my hair was curly. I thought I looked nice. I danced with all my friends and got into a couple group pictures. It was so hot in there though because there were so many people in our small cafeteria.

Those are just some of my many 8th grade memories. I will miss middle school. High school will be a new memory and a new adventure. Can’t Wait!

Dreams

dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Reflection: I thought this was a great poem about dreams. Its right to you should hold onto your dreams

Dream Deferred

dream

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore–
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over–
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

Reflection: When I read this poem I thought that it was cute, a little funny, and good. It really is a good question.

After Years

ted

Today, from a distance, I saw you
walking away, and without a sound
the glittering face of a glacier
slid into the sea. An ancient oak
fell in the Cumberlands, holding only
a handful of leaves, and an old woman
scattering corn to her chickens looked up
for an instant. At the other side
of the galaxy, a star thirty-five times
the size of our own sun exploded
and vanished, leaving a small green spot
on the astronomer’s retina
as he stood on the great open dome
of my heart with no one to tell.

Accomplishment

accomplishment

My greatest accomplishment this year was getting good grades. Every year I try to do my best at getting good grades so I can get to the next grade. Every year this is in accomplishment and every year I have done my best to accomplish this goal.

At the beginning of the year I always try to make a good impression on my teachers, so I can have a better year if the teachers know and respect me. All throughout the year I try my best at at my grades whether there good or bad. If there good thats great if there bad then I know I need to study this subject a little more. It also feels good to have good grades come home to you on your report card.

I’m always happy when I pass each grade because I know that I didn’t fail and its that much closer to getting out of school. The people that don’t like school and that never come end up staying longer because if you fail a grade you have to repeat the grade. So that is my greatest accomplishment this year and I hope that I will continue to do good in school.

Try it!

cheerWhat I think about cheerleading is that it is a fun sport for everybody. If your loud, crazy, and ready for something fun to do, you should sign up. You don’t have to be flexible because I’m not and I do it. Sometimes people may think that it is all fun and games but its not. Its just like any other sport because it takes time to get good at it. So, I would recommend everyone to do it.

boston janeBoston Jane is a great book about Jane Price or Boston Jane. She is from Philadelphia but came to Shoalwater Bay. She is the only woman there except for the Chinook woman (Indian tribe). After her father died she felt lonely until a lady finally came. Mrs. Frink seams fine at first but Jane becomes jealous of her because everybody treats Mrs. Frink Like a lady should but not her. So, she decides to leave.

While she is saying her goodbyes a man tells her that someone is going to kill Mr. Russel (owner of cabin she stays in). So her and her two friends Jehu and Keerukso set out on a long journey full of emotions, adventure, and courageous moves. The setting of this book is the woods and bay. The theme of this book is courage.

I thought this was a very good book because it kept you wondering what was going to happen next. I thought that Jane’s personality and the journey they went on was what made it so great.

I would recommend this book to anyone that loves adventure and great books. If you’re that kind of person you should check this book out.

hopeHope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune–without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Reflection: I thought this was a beautiful poem. It was really detailed.
